Play in the Primary Classroom

Play is an essential component of learning, as it allows the opportunity for students to explore their environment with curiosity while building social skills and problem solving abilities. If you’ve ever wondered if there were more ways to get your students active and playing during the school day, this workshop is for you.

By drawing on various research and resources, the workshop aims to highlight:

  1. Why play is a core resource for learning
  2. How to advocate for play as critical to children’s development and learning in schools

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Initial Training

Are you prepared for a potentially violent episode? If a student in your classroom were about to lose control, would you know how to react? Would you recognize the warning signs to de-escalate the individual before he/she became assaultive? If he/she did become physically assaultive, would you know how to protect yourself, bystanders and the acting out individual from injury?

With non-violent crisis intervention training you will learn how to recognize the signs of anxiety and pending disruption. You will learn proper verbal and nonverbal reactions that can interrupt the escalation and calm the situation before it gets out of hand.

Register early-Registration is limited to 20 participants

Materials and lunch are provided. For further information, contact Jim Nelson via E-mail: jnelson@cesa3.org
