Good morning,
I had a couple quick questions regarding the qualifications for a Wi substitute teacher’s license:
First, will this workshop meet all the requirements for being able to sub? Or will there be things I need to do before/after the workshop?
Second, while reading the description, it said license applicants need to have the “training to be eligible for a short-term Wi substitute teacher license.” Are there specifics to this training, and is this a training which much be completed before the workshop is taken? Or is this covered during the workshop?
Thank you for your time,
Wyatt Webster
Hi Wyatt,
Thanks for your questions. The requirements for a short term sub license are a certified traing and the minimum of an associate degree. This workshop is the required training. Some individuals will also need fingerprints (out of state residency, work, or schooling in the last 20 years). All will be covered that day.
Generally speaking, people who have transcripts ready can apply for the license immediately followingthe training.
Hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Brad
Hello! I registered, have an AS degree just need this required training to be a substitute teacher. But never got a follow up email or anything like that (or I can’t find one). With the date nearing, just wanted to make sure I was on the list as a registered attendee. Thanks!
Shelby,
I’m traveling this morning and can’t access the workshop roster, but regardless, please attend on Thursday. We can sort out any registration issues then. Sorry for any confusion.
Brad
I have an expired teaching license. Do I need to register or are there other things I should be doing?
Amy,
Rather than take this training, you can just apply for a Provisional license. The application directions can be found here: https://dpi.wi.gov/licensing/apply-educator-license/reissueprv
Brad
My concern is that it expired in 2011 or 2016. I was raising children. Can I still carry a provisional license after that much time?
Amy,
Yes indeed!
