Hybrid Workshop (Webinar, Workshop, Online Resources)
MAY 18 WEBINAR and
APRIL 1 IN-PERSON AT CESA 3
DPI requires all districts to implement the WIDA ELD Standards. This hybrid workshop is all about the ELD standards. The workshop consists of one virtual session (60 minutes) and one in-person session (approximately 8 hours). The workshop is intended for teacher leaders (i.e., ML teachers/coordinators who are responsible for implementing the standards and teaching others to use them) and, ideally, attendees would have some familiarity with the standards. Please plan to attend this two part professional development to help your staff understand and implement the standards in their classrooms.
Learning Goals
• Integrate content and language learning by
• researching the architecture of a content unit (pre-workshop tasks)
• setting unit language goals through unit and text analysis
• identifying how Language Functions and Language Features help students convey meaning more effectively in content learning.
• Prepare to support other educators in using the WIDA ELD Standards Framework in their local contexts.
Participation Requirements
• Complete pre-work (1 hour)
• Participate in the introductory webinar (1 hour)
• Participate in the one-day, in-person workshop
Optional Follow-up
• Participants will have access to resources and optional self-paced learning activities (1–2 hours) to build their
own knowledge and messaging around the use of the WIDA ELD Standards Framework.
• Attendees who complete the workshop will receive an invitation to join a consortium-wide pilot community of
practice with quarterly activities and collaborative online discussions.
